MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Health & Safety
To ensure that all required Health & Safety checks are carried out at the appropriate time and are properly recorded on the Daily Check Sheets.
To ensure the full implementation of Safety Systems, procedures & training.
Product Control
To control material yields and variance to ensure these stay within budgeted levels.
To attain and sustain required output / volumes as indicated on the Daily Production Plan.
To identify and effectively resolve any problems affecting performance within the Department.
To ensure Stock System is utilised to identify mis-rotation, eradicate disposals and maintain awareness of components required for production plan.
Reconcile planned production against actual, ensuring all discrepancies are investigated and production re-scheduled.
People
To maximise the efficiency of the area.
To effectively manager the labour resource
To deal with staff issues of absence, discipline, grievance and welfare within the guidelines laid out in the Companys published procedures.
To set objectives for staff with timescales for completion and measures and to conduct personal reviews of attainment of these objectives and overall performance.
To motivate and develop staff and to liaise with the Personnel Department on the training needs of staff and to put in place agreed plans and actions.
Conduct Team Briefs and ensure all Team Leaders conduct Team Briefs.
Good Manufacturing Practices
To ensure that Good Manufacturing Practice as indicated by product specifications or other media, is adhered to at all times and stages of the process.
To maintain highest standards of hygiene, both within the department and all surrounding areas.
Engineering
To properly analyse Downtime ensuring proper explanation of the reasons for Lost production and to liaise with other Departments / Managers on addressing the resulting issues.
To liaise with the Engineering department to ensure faults / repairs are properly reported and corrected and to agree on the availability of machinery and equipment for maintenance.
Quality
To promote Quality within the department by positively reinforcing the Companys quality ethos and encouraging a right first time, every time approach; to also ensure regular attendance at taste panels by self and staff and ensure all on-line WIBITS are undertaken and relative issues dealt with.
To ensure compliance with Technical and Quality standards as identified on Product Specifications, to isolate and address any non-conformances and monitor measures designed to maintain and improve standards within the Department.
To liaise with the Technical / Quality department on issues affecting the Department.
To ensure Process Control systems are properly implemented and maintained.
To undertake specific projects in the interests of improving overall business operations.
